Five Great Party Themes

The article, below, about Easter, by a guest author, covers some interesting topics:

If you want to throw a party with a difference, why not take inspiration from the time of year and celebrate in keeping with the season.

Chinese New Year falls at the beginning of the year, traditionally on the first day of the first month on the Chinese calendar. Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, is the most significant Chinese holiday and is celebrated in many countries in addition to China.

If you are planning to hold your own party to celebrate the Chinese New Year then decorate your home in red, the Chinese colour for good luck and fortune. You can hang red paper chains or tie red ribbon around the branches of indoor plants. If your home has a path leading to the door, line this with lanterns as this is believed to draw light and luck into your home.

Chinese food is easy to cook if you fancy making snacks for your guests and remember to stock up on fortune cookies, an authentic Chinese staple.

Valentines Day is another significant event which takes place early in the year, on February 14th, and is an ideal time to throw a party. Red pink and white are traditional valentine’s colours so you can experiment with different decorations in this colour palette. Heart shapes, roses and lace are all items you could use to make your own decorations and transform your home into a romantic hideaway.

Easter is another popular time of year for friends and loved ones to come together and celebrate. Easter marks the end of the Lenten season of prayer and penance and is a time where new beginnings are celebrated. Easter Sunday is typically a time for indulgence after lent so food could be at the centre of your celebrations.

Flowers, rabbits, eggs and chicks are all symbolic of Easter so you can easily incorporate these into your decorations. Easter cupcakes and cookies are simple to make and look great and there are an abundance of Easter themed games to play.

1st April marks April Fool’s Day, the perfect time of year to host a party that can be as silly as you like. Humour and fun should be the main aim of any April Fool’s Day celebrations and you can ask guests to join in on the fun by dressing as outrageously as possible.

Jokes and tricks are fitting activities for April Fool’s Day parties or you could simply gather together with friends to watch a funny movie. Whatever you feel like doing, April Fool’s Day is the perfect time for a fun and jovial party.

Last but not least, Halloween is another popular time of year for parties to take place. Ghosts, ghouls and all things spooky tend to be the theme and guests can dress up as scarily as they like. Halloween party supplies are easy to source and you can transform your home into an eerie party environment with relative ease.
